Top of the falls also may be accessed by road; the road to top is about 15km from para to the junction of Sambya lodge off from road to Kichwambanyobo gate Masindi main gate and entry point to Murchison falls national park. This access is mostly used when the of water is high and can allow the boat to dock, here you will see the bottom and go back para then drive to top of the falls by by here gives you chance to see scenic views of the place and if you’re not fit enough you may use only 5minutes to the top of the falls than that of starting from the bottom which needs fitness to hike.
When to visit and hike to the top of the falls ; the Top is hiked throughout the year but since is in the biggest and oldest park of the country is more suitable to visit in dry season when the vegetation is not high for easy view of wildlife in the park, there is much wildlife at the falls and its considered to safe walk unaccompanied however you may found a troop of olive baboon and black and white colobus monkeys.
The bat cliff immediately south of the waterfalls visible from Bakers view point is worth scanning with binoculars for raptors and swallows, if patient until dusk you will be able to see bat hawks soaring around to catch for quick dinner, after dusk the drive from top of the falls to the road back to your accommodations for that night is particularly good with the nocturnal birds.
