Experience Karamojong Cultural Neighboring Kidepo Valley National Park; the Karamojong or Karimojong are the Nilotic Ethnic group of people, they are agro-pastoral herders living mainly in the north- eastern part of Uganda and their language is locally known as ngakarimojong and is part of the Nilotic family.

The Karamojong are nomadic agro-pastoralists known for their love of cattle and their resistance to the trapping of modern civilization. They consist out of numerous tribes and clans that once migrated modern days Ethiopia such as the Maasai people, the Turkan people and  Nyangatom living in Omo valley of Ethiopia.

Karamojong traditional  lifestyle, rotates around on livestock, cattle in particular, raw milk and blood obtained after puncturing the skin of a cows is a staple  diet for the Karamojong though the smoked meat, smoked hides, cow ghee and fresh beef played a big for their survivals’. The Karamojong believes in the spirits of the dead “njitai angikatwuak” who live somewhere beyond or in the sky in what is called “lore apolon” big village. In this way they belief in life after death which acknowledge the reality that there is a supreme who grants it and in Karamojong animism has been the traditional religion and while their are churches in the town for both catholic and protestants, the foundation of believes is in a mix of animism.

Karamojong wear; the dress code of the Karamojong they wear the bright colored cloth and centered on covering the lion and the breast area of their body and shoes they put on sandals made out of car tires and also they like to put on jewelry on their body like around the neck, arm, lower lips, legs, and waits which includes beads, cow horn rings, cowhide materials, copper bangles, wild animal hides, bird fathers on the top of their heads and many others they came across.

There are many tribes in Uganda as the country , but the only tribe which is still stands with their culture is the Karamojong, here by the man in karamojong region his roll as the woman also hers to give her husband local beer and food while the young boys to keep goats, sheep and cattle and for the girls is to constructs the houses and making fences of manyattas.
