Explore sipi falls eastern Uganda; sipi falls is located in the Eastern part of the country Uganda, which 319km from Entebbe international airport and 279km from the Uganda’s capital kampala. It is found in Kapichorwa district in the place of foot hills on mountain Elgon just at the edge of mountain Elgon national park.
Sipi means “sep” which is the name to the wild banana-like indigenous plant that grows along banks of sipi river, this plant is very important to the community since it i uses to treat some fever and other diseases like measles among the people in the area.
The climates of this place is quite cool; since it is in the hilly area and sometimes its rain at any time of day, which gives hiking a beat challenge but it is also experience its own, genially this is the the place of chilling, loosening up, and relaxing from the congestion around the city centers like Mbale city.
The sipi falls is comprises of 3 falls of each of them is flowing in different Altitudes. The highest falls flows from an altitude of about 100metres and these referred to the main fall since the last falls in the series, this falls is quite bigger than the other two but all gives the beautiful scenery. Some people who visits these fall say that sipi falls is “most romantic falls ” in Uganda which evidenced as the wonderful falls.
The people around the sipi falls area hospitable and majority of them Bagishu and Sebeyi which practice farming in the area where they grow Arabic coffee on foot of mountain Elgon as their major cash crop in this land. This coffee is grown on the altitudes between 1500metres and 1900metres above sea level.
